KINGS OF MACEDON. Antigonos II Gonatas, 277/6-239 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 33 mm, 17.07 g, 12 h), Amphipolis or Pella, circa 252/1-246. Horned head of Pan to left, wearing goat skin around his neck and with lagobolon behind; all within the center of a Macedonian shield adorned with stars and crescents. Rev. BAΣIΛEΩΣ - ANTIΓONOΥ Athena Alkidemos striding left, seen three-quarters from behind, brandishing thunderbolt in her right hand and holding shield decorated with aegis on her left arm; in inner left field, Macedonian helmet with transverse crest; in inner right field, monogram of ΗΡ. SNG Berry 354. SNG Copenhagen 1200. TEA Period II, Group 2, 8a (this coin, O 02/R 08). Some minor marks, otherwise, very fine.
